Ceramics

I work mainly in earthenware clay and enjoy working with slips and tin glaze for mojolica. I work in an experimental way and treat the clay as I would a painting. Most of my ceramic work is for the wall. No two peices are the same. I produce small collections of ceramics throughout the year.

My mother and grandmother were both potters and so I grew up surrounded by clay.

My ceramics are inspired by childhood memories of Spanish pottery (My grandparents lived in Spain) and a deep love of collecting folk art, combined with what I see on my daily walks around Southwold’s working harbour.

When I moved to Southwold as a young girl, we lived down the road from the harbour so it became, and still is, my favourite place to be. I often sketch the harbour with its fishing boats, seagulls and huts, being an endless source of inspiration.
