A postcard from Southwold.
'A postcard from Southwold' is a large and colourful painting.
Inspired by the old railway posters, I wanted to create a large colourful painting that encapsulated everything I love about Southwold and the seaside.
I knew I wanted to capture as many elements as possible, such as the seagulls, sunshine, boats and seashells.
I decided on a border surround that also included the gorgeous lupins that used to cover the dunes in my childhood.
The middle of the painting is Southwold painted from the dunes with some colourful sailing boats sailing by.
My handwriting is quite distinctive so I used a simple handwritten 'Southwold' at the bottom rather than any hard-edged typeface.
As originally planned, this painting is now available as a print and greeting cards from the gallery.
This painting can be seen in my studio gallery.
